South London and Maudsley NHS Trust was established in 1999. It is a Mental Health Services trust with 1027 beds.

South London and Maudsley NHS Trust was formed on 1 April 1999 to bring together the Bethlem and Maudsley NHS Trust, Lambeth Healthcare NHS Trust and Lewisham & Guy's Mental Health NHS Trust. The Trust provides mental health services to the people of Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Croydon and substance misuse services to people in Bexley, Greenwich and Bromley. It also provides specialist services for the UK as a whole.

We have close links in education and research with the Institute of Psychiatry and Guy's, King's and St Thomas' Schools of Medicine, both of which are part of King's College London. This close collaboration involves working to ensure that developments and research feed directly into clinical practice. Our academic links with King's College London, which also includes the Nightingale Institute, enable us to ensure our health care staff receive high quality clinical training experience at both pre-qualification (or registration) stage and in specialist skills (post qualification).

We are committed to managing and developing a range of mental health services, working closely with users and carers; Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham and Croydon Health Authorities; the new Primary Care Groups; NHS hospitals and community trusts; community health councils, local authorities and the voluntary sector. The Trust brought together the Bethlem and Maudsley NHS Trust, Lewisham and Guy's Mental Health NHS Trust and the mental health services of Lambeth Healthcare NHS Trust.

Services are primarily focused on people with severe and enduring mental illness. However, we also promote good mental health, early intervention to prevent more serious problems and provide support to primary care in dealing with people with less severe problems. We have a strong community focus and our services are provided in a wide range of settings including peoples' own homes, GP practices, day centres, residential and nursing homes, prisons and hospitals. In the last year we provided treatment for 4,746 inpatients and 66,058 outpatients; 97,774 people used our day services; and our community services saw 159,624 people.

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust presently has no vacancies listed in our database.
