NHS Blackpool Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is responsible for planning and purchasing services on behalf of the town’s 172,000 registered GP population. With its historic reputation as Britain’s favourite seaside destination, the town still attracts around 18million visitors annually. This along with local demographic factors such as increased deprivation and prevalence of complex conditions present a real challenge to the delivery of healthcare services. Despite this, the CCG remains an ambitious one at the forefront of many national transformation programmes, continuing to lead the way in improving patient experiences and outcomes as well as the sustainability of services. Working in partnership with our 18 GP Member Practices, one acute and community provider trust, a unitary authority, and a neighbouring CCG, the local healthcare system continues to be seen as one of the pioneers within England. As we enter an exciting period involving the development of a Blackpool and Fylde Coast ‘Accountable Care System’, delivering truly integrated care is at the heart of the CCG’s strategic vision.
